Trackside Recap with Dan Robinson
At the World Short Track Championship at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Five Star and MD3 drew strong interest by displaying the NE Modified, Dirt Late Model, and Dirt Modified Quarter Panels together for the first time, creating natural entry points for racers across multiple divisions to learn more about the parts that fit their specific cars. What often started as simple curiosity quickly turned into deeper conversations around vinyl adhesion, plastic body bracing, and long-term durability—key concerns as racers continue to look for affordable, long-lasting panels in an environment where costs keep rising. With nearly 10 classes and close to 500 cars in the pits, the diversity of the event made this stop unique, exposing opportunities to expand MD3’s lineup for classes ranging from Street Stocks to Mini Stocks, where demand for additional panel options continues to grow. Seeing the parts in person proved critical, as the variety of colors and displays consistently pulled teams in and helped tailor discussions to each racer’s class and needs. Creative builds stood out throughout the pits, including Street Stocks incorporating Five Star NextGen pavement noses and fenders, as well as NE Pro Stocks running Five Star pavement bodies on dirt. The highlight of the weekend came with Jessica Power capturing the NE Sportsman feature win using an MD3 NE Modified body, underscoring the performance and durability racers expect from Five Star products.
