Twin Lakes, WI – June 2025 — When DRT Chassis owner Cody Sommer and his team rolled into Eldora Speedway for the Dirt Late Model Dream, they were ready to compete. What they didn’t expect was how quickly things could turn sideways—literally.

We caught up with Cody after the race, and the story he shared about their MD3 High-Impact Plastic Quarter Panel is a perfect example of how the right equipment can make the difference between a DNF and a strong finish.

The Problem: Tire Rub on Lap 5

“I saw Dan [Robinson] after the race and had to run over and show him the quarter panel and tire—it had rubbed everything above the tire and several inches behind it. The tire started rubbing on lap five. It was nerve-racking.”

At an event like the Dream, consistency is everything. Each night’s results affect your entire weekend. That means one small issue—like a tire rub—can spiral fast.

“These big events have formats where you have to finish well every night,” Cody said. “And I’m watching it bounce off the tire even under caution. And there were a LOT of cautions.”
