Five Star at the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series
July 18, 2025 • Arrowhead Speedway • Colcord, OK
What product or display got the most attention at this stop?
Air Filter Shields continue to generate a lot of conversation. It is something so simple and obvious that it seems to always generate the “Why didn’t I think of that?” response.
Were racers asking about anything specific—new parts, mounting tips, or compatibility?
I had several ask about better hood pin scuff plates. I think they will be pleasantly surprised with some new items that we are set to launch shortly.
Did you get any feedback that might shape how we build or market future MD3 products?
I spent quite a bit of time talking with Stock Car racer Brad Murdock, who was running a new MD3 Camaro Body with the Stock Cars. We talked a lot about how easy it is to install and how durable the body has been. He had a few suggestions that we can improve on, some of which are already in process, so it was good to get that confirming feedback.
Racer Engagement
Any standout conversations with racers or chassis builders?
I have spent some time this summer parked close to Bryan Snyder with Bryke Racing Products. He is a racing products supply located in Lincoln, AR. We took time on Saturday morning to drive down and tour his shop and retail location. Bryan is a great guy with a wealth of industry knowledge and experience. It is always a pleasure to visit customers and suppliers of MD3 and Five Star products. www.Bryke.com
What questions or challenges are racers bringing up more often this season?
Racers always talk about the cost of racing as everything seems to be going up in price, but they appreciate that our prices remain competitive and that our products are durable and built to last so they appreciate that we work hard to keep them on the track.
How did teams respond to seeing the parts in person versus online?
It was extremely hot so many of the racers stayed close to their pit areas during the afternoon but once things cooled down a bit, we had quite a bit of traffic stop by the booth to see what we had on display and to grab a catalog. I think any time racers can talk directly to the manufacturer it is a very positive experience.
Event Vibes
What made this stop different from others on the tour?
This stop was unique as we had two great regional series in action representing both late models and modifieds. A healthy field of over 50 USRA Modifieds were in action. There was a time when Modifieds seemed to be on the decline but with the introduction of several new regional series including the Heartland Modified Tour, the Northern Lights Modified Tour and the ARMS Modified Tour, I think it has helped rebuild the class in several regions. The Comp Cams Super Dirt Series also had a strong field of nearly 30 late models.
Did you spot any cool cars, setups, or creative uses of Five Star parts?
Any time I see one of the new MD3 Camaros in action, it is great as they are such a neat platform for the metric cars to utilize. They have a unique shape and look so it is always good to see a new one in action as there was this weekend.
What was your favorite moment from the day?
Jon Kirby took a nasty roll over tumble the late model B-Main so it was good to see him walk away uninjured.
Takeaways & Looking Ahead
What city or event are you most excited about next on the schedule?
I think the WoOLMS Fairbury Prairie Dirt Classic must be the one I’m looking forward to the most on July 24-26 followed by the WoOLMS stop at Wilmot, WI on July 28th.
