Five Star at the Illini 100

April 10-11th, 2026 • Farmer City Raceway • Farmer City, IL

Illini100-Display

Trackside Recap with Dan Robinson

At Farmer City’s tight Illinois bullring, MD3 plastic quarter panels and breakaway spoiler components proved their value under heavy wall contact, drawing strong attention from teams who quickly realized aluminum parts couldn’t withstand the abuse. Racers were actively restocking and engaging around durability, while broader conversations centered on potential 2027 rule changes, likely focused more on enforcement of body measurements than major part redesigns. Dan spent meaningful time with industry veteran Mark Richards of Rocket Chassis, reinforcing insight into the sport’s direction, while recurring concerns among teams focused on rising costs and fuel prices. Engagement was strong, particularly from MARS Modified teams, signaling growing market penetration across both Late Model and Modified segments. On track, top performers like Brandon Sheppard and Bobby Pierce validated MD3 plastic side panels, with Pierce specifically crediting the plastic door for saving his tire in a wreck, turning him into a firm believer. With a packed crowd and high energy despite cool weather, the event highlighted increasing adoption and confidence in MD3 products. Looking ahead, attention shifts to Knoxville Raceway, where the high-speed environment will showcase the aerodynamic performance of Five Star’s new Sprint Car body.
